Every year my kids bring home a pillowcase full of candy and I usually end up throwing half of it away after getting onto them for having a tummy ache. How do they not remember what happened last year?
Anyway, aside from my parental frustrations, I’ve decided to use it as an opportunity to save some money.
As SOON as your kids get home, divide out the candy between the candy branded for Halloween and not. All non-Halloween branded candy can be used as stocking stuffers in December.
Next, pull out the candy you need for your upcoming recipes. I have no shame during the holidays and I’ll bake 3 or 4 of the same dish and freeze it until the day before the party. I never have time or energy to make the dish before the party, so I love having it ready on hand. It gives me extra time to make my festive ugly holiday sweater.
I hope these recipes give you some great ideas to start. Save this candy through the holiday season so you have the main ingredients on some quick dishes for all those upcoming holiday parties (socially distanced, of course).
